HERITAGE OPEN DAYS
Welcome to the Chelmsford Heritage Open Days website
Heritage Open Days was established in 1984 and is a countrywide festival each September celebrating heritage in many ways. The main idea for events is to allow access to buildings which are not usually available to the public along with talks and tours about our local heritage - and every event has to be free! Each year has a theme and for 2023 it is 'Creativity Unwrapped'.
Chelmsford Heritage Open Days has been organised by Chelmsford Civic Society since 2013 and you can view some of our previous events on our YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/c/chelmsfordcivicsociety
This year's event is set for 8th - 17th September 2023. Please visit the Events page to view all events for this year's festival!
Heritage Through the Arts and Decades Apart have been made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to create two projects for the community, one being a day of heritage entertainment in Tindal Square on the 16th September and one a project to explore cultural changes between generations of families which will be made in to a film.
